5-8 p.m. Feb. 18
Plymouth Tavern
After a fun birthday party last year, let’s do it again — with an even greater purpose! Join me to celebrate my birthday (a few days early) and raise money for the American Cancer Society!
Come when you can, bring friends/family/kids/co-workers/the neighbor. Stay as long as you can. If your social battery dies, slipping out without saying goodbye is acceptable only after you’ve made a donation, obviously.
Can’t make it and want to support the cause? Or feel the urge to help now? Here’s the donation link.
If you work at Erie Insurance or any company that offers matching gifts, please be sure to submit your donation for a matching gift. In Benevity, please mark in the box to the nonprofit group that it’s for the “Relay For Life of Erie County, Pennsylvania.”
4 reasons why you should attend
✅ Basket raffles
Look for a few great basket raffles that night! Basket drawings will take place at 7:45 p.m. — you don’t need to be there to win.
Want to donate a basket? Let me know — I’m looking for baskets valued between $25 and $50.
✅ Food
I’ll be providing some light bites — mini pretzels, a veggie platter and pizza — available beginning at 5:30 p.m. Drinks and additional food will be available for purchase with the server staffing the event.
✅ Your donations will help to support the American Cancer Society
Donations to the American Cancer Society fund critical cancer research, provide vital patient support services and help ensure access to treatment for those in need. Your contribution directly supports the fight to end cancer as we know it—for everyone.
✅ Me!
Because who wouldn’t want to celebrate with someone who’s fun, friendly and knows how to throw a party that’s both heartwarming and unforgettable? Come for the cause, stay for the Bobby Cherry energy!
Why I Relay…
Every 90 seconds, someone in the United States dies from cancer.
That’s a mother, a father, a sibling, a best friend—gone. This disease doesn’t just take lives; it steals moments, memories and futures.
That’s why I’m asking you to donate now to the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Erie County.
I’ve been volunteering with the American Cancer Society for almost 30 years (yes, I started young!). People sometimes ask me, “Why do you still do Relay?” The answer is simple: Because cancer hasn’t stopped, so neither will I.
My journey with the American Cancer Society began before I understood the weight of words like “caregiver” or “survivor.” But I knew what chemotherapy was. I knew what it looked like to watch someone I love lose her hair, her weight and her joy for life. I knew what it felt like to lose my grandmother to cancer.
She never saw me drive a car, graduate or read my first published news story. We never got to hang Christmas ornaments together again. She never walked a survivor lap at Relay. And I have never gotten over what cancer did to her, to me and to my family.
But my story doesn’t end with loss.
I was first introduced to Relay For Life around the time my grandmother had cancer. Her love, and ultimately her loss, became the foundation of my commitment to the American Cancer Society.
Since then, I have never stopped my commitment to Relay For Life. I’ve laughed, cried and shared stories with so many—because cancer has touched us all.
The American Cancer Society is leading the fight through research, patient support and advocacy. The American Cancer Society needs our help.
Help us end cancer as we know it—for everyone.
